"Well the answer is elementary... I like a good mystery from time to time but with books, most of all with the modern authors, it seems harder to find good ones. I particularly enjoyed Samantha Radar's 'Maskhunt' series at first before the whole 'private dick who is also a slasher serial killer' thing got so formulaic. That is a trap many of them seem to fall into and I am not a fan of formula writing. I like books that intrigue my mind or take me to interesting worlds for a while. When the weather is bad enough I will start a fire, sit in my easy chair, and spend the day in my chair reading and I don't wanna know the killer was actually Mrs. Wilson the recently Divorced woman when it is only two chapters into the book." This said he shrugged and took another sip of the tea. Enjoying simple pleasures. He had planned to go get a couple drinks today but thinking on it he would rather have a... simpler day today. Maybe he would wander the mall later. Let the young ones giggle at the old man as they tended to. Maybe wonder into on of those clothing places with the leather pants and see if they learned to wear deodorant there yet. Just wonder the city so more and enjoy the sights... after he enjoyed time with this lovely lady that is. "Personally I have been enjoying the 'alt world' series. You know, that book series about a crazy where the only sentient species is a type of hairless ape? Odd stuff, silly notion but interesing... I imagine shopping for boots would be easier."

Ah book talk. Now this is a conversation Hena could enjoy and enjoy she does. He went on giving his opinion and in agreeance to every word Hena nodded gently. He went on and on and with every word that gentle sparkle in her eye grew bigger and more profound. It was as if he was somehow a part of her, a kindred spirit. Even the way he described enjoying a book was just how Hena would love to enjoy the thrill of a story. But, alas, this apartment had no fireplace to light.
The mood was far too perfect to go without a sip of tea, and conquering her fear of farther embarrassment she scooted to towards the table to carefully pour herself another cup of still very warm tea. This was almost a bad choice as the pure joy of his mentioning a series she was currently enthralled with just about sent her hands aloft.
With a quaky jitter she managed to set the pot back on the tray with, quite luckily, not a drop astray.
“Oh I love that series. To think so much controversy and strife can be found in just one species. Heavens, after reading that one I'm not sure how any of us manage to stay alive. And the politics! How they managed to have one leader is beyond me. I haven't a clue how they'd get everyone to agree on one person to be in charge. I admit that'd be interesting to try but those gangs would just go wild out there.”
With a deep breath she calmed down a bit. Books were just too much fun sometimes but this tea was divine. Carefully she lifted the welling cup to her lips and sipped at it's edge.

For a moment Tarsus thought about telling her the old joke. "How do you get five members all from different gangs to agree on something... kill four of them" But he doubted she would appreciate the humor. Despite he age she seemed a bit naive. She had invited a huge anthro she barely knew into her home, up her stairs, and into her private room. If he wasn't who he was taking advantage of this would be far to easy... the thought of her getting taken advantage of again made him feel unpleasant. Very unpleasant indeed. He thought as he listened and then made up his mind that he would do what he could to help. He thought of teaching her some self defense but with hollow bones, little muscle, and her seemingly lack of hand eye coordination that could end badly... like watching her break her own head open badly... Instead there was something he could work with. Her eyesight. Preventive measures would help... and on other thing that could even the odds in this city. "I am sorry for subject change but there is something I would like to offer you... I would like to teach you to protect yourself better. No I don't mean like teaching you to fire a gun or karate chop someone. I mean something of the more preventive nature. Something to help you observe what is going on around you better. It is something I can teach you but something you would have to practice." Tarsus gesture around himself at the room. "This is a good example of a small scale of the city. There are obsticles everywhere, things all around us, almost no clear lines of sight and yet without getting up I can tell you that on the floor behind this couch you have a copy of Gerald Norgon's 'Bliss within the Castle'." He shook a finger at her. "Before you ask no I did not peek in on you and no it is not magic. It is simply looking at what is here. You see the city and this room have another thing in common." Tarsus reached onto the table and picked up a spoon and pointed it at her so the bowl was facing her. "Reflections. Mirrors, glass walls, specs, reflections are all around you if you know where to look. In this room there are picture frames, turned off tv, mirrors, all pointing in different directions and by looking at them I can see more of the room at once then if I sat swiveling my neck. Do you understand where I am going with this?"
