Character Name: Angel "Ghost" Erie
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Species/Breed: Spotted Hyena
Current Occupation: By day, he is your average pickpocket. He sells whatever he finds. By night, he is just about anything your average citizen frowns upon. Burglar, thief, assassin-for-hire, and a few more unsavory jobs that no one really wants to do.
Personality: Angel suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder. He has about five other personalities total, but they rarely show themselves. Except for one, who has named himself "Ghost." This alter began to show himself around the time that Angel suffered from memory loss. Being a "night person," Ghost almost never takes over until well after sun down, though he is known to come out on days with exceptionally dreary weather. The two are constantly writing notes to each other, since they can't talk any other way.
Angel, on the best of days, is unpredictable. Not necessarily mean or cruel, he is simply a little weird. Even if you take away the mental disorder. He is very smart and sneaky, and loves nothing more than the adrenaline that comes from almost getting caught. Of course, he's never been caught. Angel absolutely loves riddles and puzzles, and loves to find people that can match his wit in a game of checkers. He loves to laugh and joke around, though he sometimes takes it a little too far. He would never hurt a person out of anything other than necessity, though.
Ghost, on the other hand, can be very mean and cruel, if you bring it out of him. Otherwise, he's very stoic and quiet, preferring to listen and observe rather than take immediate action. He will do anything to get the upper hand on his opponents, no matter the consequences. Ghost will willingly murder, as long as it does him good. He is cold and intellectual. Yet, like Angel, he loves jokes and riddles. If you can get him to laugh, he will hold you in high regards. He is sensitive to sunlight, so you'll never see him around on a good day.
Appearance: Angel is thin and tall, with long, thin fingers and long, powerful legs. His dark muzzle either has a silly grin or a demeaning scowl on it. Long, tan fur with dark spots on it covers his body, growing longer on his head, much like a mane. His eyes are dark, with a tattoo of a green biohazard sign under his left eye and a black seven-pointed star under the other. On his back is another tattoo of a pair of white angel wings and a skull and crossbones between the wings.
As for wardrobe, Angel and Ghost prefer the same things...Most of the time. Usually a pair of ripped up, baggy jeans and black t-shirt, covered by a black coat with lots of pockets. For shoes, well, that's where they differ. Angel prefers going barefoot, to run away faster. Ghost likes boots. Big, black boots with a small spike on the toe. All the better to kick people with.
Background: Angel, though he doesn't know it, is the adopted son of a long-dead Mercazi. Part of a small group of the family with little ability in the difficult stuff, but were excellent thieves. The group had killed his biological parents and, for some reason, took pity on him. He had much potential, except for the fact that he did not like to hurt people in any way. And he didn't have the stamina for breaking in to houses. So the group went with the alternative. They raised him to be the skilled pickpocket he is today, and was held in high regard among the whole clan because of his ability to get past strong defenses and get the important stuff. You know, the really expensive jewelry and whatnot. That is, until the accident. The only time Angel had been caught. Well, kind of. His victim had a tazer on him that the hyena had overlooked, and he knew how to use it. It had a very adverse effect on the pickpocket, knocking him out for about four days straight.
He woke up with Mercazis all around him. They were glad to see him finally better, except for one thing. He had no memory of his past life. He didn't remember his name, and especially, he could not remember his skill at pickpocketing. So he was disowned. Some family, right? Soon after being kicked out, Ghost took over. He remembered everything Angel did not, and the other's foolishness enraged him. He went on a killing spree of Mercazis, destroying the little group that had raised Angel. Frighteningly, he had a natural skill for murder. Probably because Angel didn't. And it wasn't something the Mercazis expected, nor were they good at defending against. After that, he wrote Angel a very eloquent letter on all the events that had ever happened to him, leaving out the fact that he was adopted and replacing the name Mercazi with the last name of his biological parents: Erie. With the help of Ghost, Angel soon gained back his skill in thievery, and happily allows the alter to do whatever he wants at night to show how grateful he is.
