Character Name: Dr. Elizabeth Rosemary Blackwell, but also "Gail" and "Judith" - two other personalities.
Gender: Female
Age: 37
Species/Breed: Rabbit (Pure)
Current Occupation: Dr. Blackwell works, these days, mostly with the development of the cybernetics and genetherapies used on Odyssians. She is attributed, to the public, as a scientist in the employ of Aurora Industries, accredited the developer of several medicines to help reduce rejection syndrome for gene-therapies and cybernetics (ReKind"le life's passion" and Whole "a solution", respectively) and the designer of a cybernetic arm capable of perfect simulation of motion - able to play musical instruments, weave, etc.
Personality: The news and media puppets of the Council would love to portray the doctor as a philanthropist, a brilliant, great woman who donates her wealth to scholarships and trust funds, and... other such nonsense. Some of that is true - she does set up scholarships and live simply, but she is no saint, she is just a woman who lives in Goldenbrick apartments alone, takes a lot of medication, and smiles shyly when you greet her in the halls.
Strange doesn't begin to describe, but she's something distant from a harmful kind of strange - the kind of woman that if she raises her voice, you're surprised, and her anger is scary only because its so unusual for her. Dr. Blackwell speaks softly, has an almost perpetual calmness to her, and sad eyes - but that's Dr. Blackwell, and she's more than one person.
As a scientist, her inner child is the closest thing, across the years, she's kept as a conscience. The child in her has been nurtured - it has been her primary way to keep herself from burning out and entertained. Practice visualizing her inner child where she lives and works... has gotten easier with her newly developed malignities - but that doesnt mean she has to like it. Of all the people she sees now, she likes her inner child, nicknamed Mittens, the most. Always has.
Mittens is a tomboy, a little bit of a toughtalker, but she was never a bad kid - she had to be tough to be taken seriously, something she's 'grown out of' since her childhood. Its rare when Mittens takes the reigns, rare indeed - She and the doctor understand one another. Having Mittens 'around' is like having a little sister nobody else can see or hear.
Gail is another story. Born of a few too many walks home alone, a couple muggings, and a drink or two too many, Gail is a persona that Dr. Blackwell invented to idealize herself, and is delusional as hell. Gail is everything and everyone that Elizabeth sometimes wishes she was- brave, funny, stylish, and unwilling to let people walk all over her. Even though the body is a bunny, Gail is a dragon to the core (the species Doc wishes she was).
Gail is a rarer presence in Dr. Blackwell's world, and is seemingly the only personality fuzzy on the whole... crazy thing - the other two are quite well aware of what they are. Gail is broad-shouldered and flambouyant, the life of a party. Everything about Gail is different from Doctor Blackwell... most noticably her vernacular, eating habits, manners, and posture - all very east-lucentian. Gail comes screaming to the surface when Doc gets wasted, when she's in serious danger, and when Doc goes on one of her sleepless binges. Gail is undone by seeing her own reflection - seeing that she is not a dragoness as she believes breaks the illusion for her completely, and since she doesn't really know she's a delusion...
Judith is the persona that Dr. Blackwell made by accident, fueled by her anger at her social circumstances and loneliness, at herself for being too damn weak, in ways that Gail could never satisfy. Judith... is not harmless, there's no way to describe it better, and what makes it worse is that she's self-aware.
Originally, Dr. Blackwell was just angry, sad, and lonely... but she accidentally gave herself a dose of one of the mutagens she had been working on for Project Odyssia. Judith was born. Since, she has been a shadow in the corner of Dr. Blackwell's eye, sneaking scalpels into her purse, loading the gun she keeps in her bag, staring at coworkers just a little too long... little things, mostly. She is the little monster inside us all, given a psychomanifestation in Dr. Blackwell's mind, whispering honeyed words into a sick mind.
Judith is beautiful, willful, and sadistic - feeding on the feeling of another person's throat under her heel. Even if the Doctor would never, ever admit to it, she is addicted to that mutagenic compound... and it is what gives Judith her power over their decisions and actions, among other things. The other personalities were there before Dr. Blackwell got that first dose, and they were strengthened, just as Judith was given form - when she takes the drug, the quirks, hallucinations, and full-scale personality shifts have become more frequent, more intense.
Appearance: Doctor Elizabeth Blackwell is a female rabbit with pure, snowy white fur, without a single marking or discoloration in her whole coat, and a thick, curly head of blonde hair. She is modestly pretty, with a body that might have been really lovely twelve years ago, but has aged well - time has been gentle. Her coat is silky soft, well cared for - by one person or another, and her hair, very occasionally, has a streak in the front of an unusual color - from one person or another.
She is a very timid, quiet woman - with ears always drooped back, eyes wide behind big, round glasses, and a little smile on her face - mostly to encourage people to pay as little attention to her as possible, by not seeming too happy or too sad - its easy to pick up on those emotions and be noticed.
Mittens, when she's driving, is a lot more outgoing - she beams, she cries, she giggles and throws things, posture poor and hands always moving. She doesn't run, she bounces, and doesn't sit still... she fidgets like she'd catch fire if she slowed down. As named, she always wears mittens - she had a disorder when she was a kid where her hands were extremely cold and had very little sensation - she'd catch frostbite on them unless they were covered, poke herself on something, etc.
Gail holds herself like a queen, with flashing, intense eyes and a voice that doesn't squeak from her like Liz's does. She barks orders, curses like a sailor, and throws things when she's pissed - refuses to bottle anything up. Gail is a lot prettier than Dr. Blackwell is - the confidence goes a long way to accentuate her looks. She appears to the Doctor as a dragoness, not the rabbit - with bright red scales and a shock of raven-black hair, often with streaks of red, green, pink, or blue.
Judith is a seductress, and when she wields the body, however rare that may be, she gives it an edge - a sharp one. Its hard to put a finger on... but when Judith holds the sticks, Dr. Blackwell is... disturbing to look at - eyes just a little too watchful, hands balled into fists, her customary smile twisted into a cruel grin. She drips with malcontent, and like Gail's confidence, her malice lends her beauty, renders her striking... but she's enough like Dr. Blackwell that she can be mistaken - soft spoken, gentle in the way she moves... but Blackwell will generally not raise her voice. Judith will. Blackwell won't seem to get angry or upset about much of anything. Judith strikes out and gets revenge, hissing and seething. Little things... little things.
The mutagens and drugs used in the Odyssians are most active in her, most accepted, most willingly used, when Judith is in control - its easier for them to work when they're not being resisted, but accepted. Mind over body. When Judith has taken them, the striking looks aren't just... a trick of the light from the way she moves and holds herself. Muscles buldge, eyes shrink and sink into black pits, her claws inflame a little, and seem to grow as muscles tense and flesh tightens... and it feels good, like being ten years younger.
Background: The media would have you believe that Dr. Blackwell grew up in eastern Lucent to a poor family, and rose fast from the bottom, worked hard and put herself through school to get her master's degree in Biochemical Engineering, and went to work for Aurora Industries as a prodigy, and even now works for the betterment of furkind. And the media would also like to sell you a sack of shit.
No, the truth is, while Elizabeth Blackwell is a genius and has prodigously sought out advancements for the sake of the culture that gave her a childhood, it wasn't the 'Mary Sue' story they would have you believe. Doctor Elizabeth Blackwell was born in Western Lucent, in her father's taxi cab. Her mother was a waitress and a good-for-nothing whore, for lack of a better term, who wanted nothing to do with the child, leaving her to be raised by her father.
She was not left in poverty - she grew up with everything she needed, and a father who made sure she kept her nose to the grindstone. He had strong opinions about Hybrids, or "Muddies" as he called them, and carefully pruned his daughter's choice in company as she grew up - and never bothered to explain why.
Imagine her surprise when she brought home a fox-bat for her prom, and her father met him at the door with a shotgun! She left his home at the age of sixteen, and was disowned within three weeks. If she was outgoing before then... living in east lucent with Roger, the lad she'd left home to be with, put a top on that damn quick.
Roger was an addict, and a thug. Life with Roger is something she, even now, has nightmares about from time to time. He was such a nice young man at first, and treated the tomboy like a goddess. Then, when he had trouble finding work and had to move to East Lucent, things started to go downhill. It was fine, until he took up substances to cope with the nasty conditions, and became a fiend.
She endured two years, four months, and nineteen days of his abuse, binges, and his idea of 'lovemaking' before she shot him four times with a .45 and put a stop to it... and was never quite the same again, after that. Therapy, medicine, and rehabilitation can do alot for a fur - and she's come a long, long way, and with the help of Roger's horrified family, got on her feet... and kept on walking.
Nothing after that came as difficult - she breezed her way through school, and by the age of 27, had the equivalent of a doctorate-level education, and demonstrated the genius for what she is known she is today. She ended up noticed by the Council, and was taken under their wing, all expenses paid, to help them with... a special project.
Project Odyssia was what gave her wings, and let her genius soar - she made several breakthroughs in advanced cybernetics - the optic implants were her crowning achievement, the result of many biochemical and cybernetic triumphs. It was only near the end of her employment in the project that she discovered what her research and life's work was being used for.
