There are several things that must be addressed and will be in this post. I advise that no one take offense to what is written or regard any of it negatively.
First is the matter of Admin. Normally that would be Rook but she has since given up responsibility of the site. That's not to say she has revoked admin rights. She started this site and as such will remain with ultimate control. But in light of recent events she has relinquished involvement with the site. Her reasons are her own and I don't intend to speak for her in that sense. I do however intend to adopt administrative control. Being that there are no other staff members who even so much as glance at this site I feel it's well within my responsibility. I also do not believe Rook would in any way argue this point. If she does I gladly allow her to take action against me however she deems fit.
This does not mean I take claim of this site, the setting or anything copyrighted by Rook. This does mean I will perform all necessary moderation or administrative roles as needed and I am allowed. I don't have admin so there are many things I CANNOT do. This also means that I should be considered top of the command chain. To this end, if anyone has issues with this please voice them. I'd ask that Rook be left out unless you believe it to be a violation necessary of her intervention.
Additionally I don't intend to do much roleplaying. At least not initially. My priority is the functionality of this forum. That's not to say I won't at all. But don't be surprised if I refuse to participate.
Second I would like to say a few things concerning the recent activity and the the plot. At it's initiation this site had enough members to facilitate it. It was intended to get people roleplaying together seeing as the common practice is to lurk or roleplay with select members. There was a vote and it was decided that the plot would initiate. Rook did her best to initiate and set it forth but no one person can make this place thrive.
It turns out no one went about doing as asked and in doing so stopped most "for fun" threads. Slowly people disappeared. It's understandable that life comes first. No one her will argue that. But lurking gets us no where and least of all does it get us new players.
In the cbox this was mentioned and when I responded offense was taken. I didn't mean it to be an attack or attempt at guilt. It was simply a matter of fact. The greatest issue that has persisted in this site for the last year has been inactivity. People join and nothing more. They do not create characters or start threads. Least of all do they try and find people to rp with. That is something no one will hand to you. This site is in dire need of interaction. People need to take initiative. I've seen many people speak of it's potential and how they could help but rarely does this pan out.
People have also posted recently on this matter. I just have to say that's exactly what I'm talking about. You cannot WAIT for something to happen. Everyone seems to be doing it and that means NOTHING happens. It is this post that is exactly what people need to be doing. It's about time someone realizes this. GOod job! :D
As for the plot I feel that it should remain an option but for now it will be considered on the back burner. Because of that "for fun" roleplays should take priority. We need to revitalize the member base first and foremost.
As such I plan on becoming much more strict on member activity. If there is no activity on an account after approximately 14 days it will be deleted and any and all characters will be moved. This means there won't be activity checks since they're annoying.
When signing up please post on the forums with anything within a week or your account will be deleted. This is a good time to inquire about creating a character or possible roleplays concerning your character. Your first post does not have to be your character. There are other places for you to post.
I understand that people have real lives. But posting on a forum is not so difficult. It's not that you must roleplay in your post but there are several other outlets. Start discussion forums or just goof off. Plan a thread or find someone to roleplay with. The cbox is fun and handy for soing much of this but if you do it in the cbox I can't guarantee myself or anyone else will see it.
Lastly if anyone has an issue with anything within this post please reply with them. I know there are a few of you who remain, I'm one of them, and we all have to work together.
