Just overall, in RL what do you think about mechs?

Vague question for a broad topic.
I think Mechs are a fantastic idea conceptually. For anime's and videogames. In real life mechs are just a silly an ridiculously stupid idea if you're talking about 50 story Gundams. Thought the idea of mechs as more of a suit is far more practical and something I'd like to see some day. Though Metal gear seems to take a reasonably practical approach to mechs with the shagohod, rex and ray. But I favor those in the Fourth game. But those might not really fall in the genre of mechs so much as advanced body armor.
Most anime's throw reality too far out the window. The sheer mass of material to make one eva would be rediculous in war time. We were building things a fraction of the size in world wars and had to ration and recycle large amounts of material so I highly doubt unless we find some virtually unlimited source mech's are unlikely to be an option for mass production in a war situation. And gravity doesn't like large things not at all. I don't think we will but it'd be neat to see Evas running around.
*Babble babble blahblahblah*

Hi!
I know I type a lot.
I think even 40 feet is taller then we'll ever see. There's people in Japan who are "making" mechs and they're only two stories.

I know, I mean the absolute limit however, yes, 20 feet is a very plausible size

As far as the plausibility of manufacturing Mechs during wartime go, if they could limit the resources used in their making to about those of 1 - 2 tanks or other large armored vehicles, then it could be plausible...and as far as the anime space aspect goes, that's looking a bit too far into the future for us to seriously contemplate right now (seeing as how we seem to be contemplating this seriously somehow). That being said, it is a nifty, if highly destructive idea. And I could see the concept of flying being employed through the use of large, thruster like jets....though I'm not sure if air displacement alone would allow them to rise, or if more power would be needed. I suppose it depends on both the force they expelled and the overall weight of the materials used to make the Mech.
As far as more realistic Mech types go, while I can't see any Evas wandering about, the original Mobile Suit Gundam, again if one ignores the space aspect, shows plausible ideas for land Mechs.

.....I just want a little liger zero zoid. A real zoid that has artificial intelligence which allows it to learn and evelope on its own just like in the actual zoids series. He can be the size of a house cat and thats fine with me. As long as he looks like liger zero and can move like him and with an AI he'll actually have a 'personality' just like a real animal. I would love to have one as a companion.
yes I'm weird. yes I'm very weird.
