Sitting by a large window Zarek looked out at St. Lucent and the hustle and bustle that was going down below him. The people looked like little ants from all the way up at the restaurant. The view was spectacular here, and the place was high enough that the Council could make this area a No-Fly zone.
As a waiter came up the Angel adjusted his black blazer that he wore over a black long sleeve shirt. Though he was not a member of the Council Zarek still felt that at least he should try to blend in. Everything he was wearing was black except for the ruby cuff links that he knew would stand out to anyone with a trained eye and mark him as an Angel.
“Have you decided what you would like today sir?” The black cat asked. He too was dressed in all black, but for his ivory shirt and gloves that marked him as a worker.
“I’ll start with the clam chowder with just some water, then I’ll have the salmon with a Chardonnay, and I’ll finish it all off with the mint strawberries and a nice port.” Zarek replied handing the ivory and ebony menu to the cat.
“Very good sir,” The cat said taking the menu and bowed before leaving.
Looking around the tiger could not help but admire how uniform Dina’s was. The whole place was decorated in blacks and whites. The main two colors though where ebony and ivory.
The staff is only those colors. The tiger thought to himself as he caught a glimpse of a polar bear in the kitchen as his waiter walked through the swinging doors.
Zarek was impressed by the whole way this establishment worked. Now if he could get Rook to be this coordinated life would be perfect. Perhaps he could get the wolverine a job here. The thought of that made him chuckle a little.

Ivan had neither the money, nor the social standing to even imagine buying even the smallest plate from one of the enormous folded menus that waited like giant stingrays on the elegant tables. He could..perhaps however, with his new salary, afford one of the fabulous mixed alcoholic beverages from the bar, and perhaps being the new assistant of the leader of a multi-million dollar company and council member entitled him to a seat at the bar.
In any case, it was expected of him to make an appearance here.
He was treading thin ice, he'd have to be very careful.
The young cheetah's sharp blue eyes surveyed the scenery, his steps were measured and graceful, his blond hair neatly combed. He made sure to sit two seats farther away from anybody else at the bar, but occasionally glanced over to avoid looking suspiciously anti-social.
Things went on rather well untill the bartender (an orca) told him the cost of his drink.
How much now!? It must be at least twenty percent more than I'd figured.
Ivan's mouth went dry, he could afford maybe a quarter of that sum, but what could he say in front of all these people?
"Do you have anything...."
He paused, feeling the cold watery eyes of the bartender on him.
"less...strong? I have plans this evening, but I need something to take the edge off".
The orca raised his brow at this harried explaination, but simply shook his head "Sorry sir, that's our lightest--and cheapest brew".
"Ah then nothing for tonight, maybe another time, sorry. Just a glass of water".
The orca looked at him for a long bit, and then turned away and Ivan managed to keep himself from sighing in relief.
I'm such a fool.
His first public appearance, and he'd screwed it up, thankfully it diddn't seem as if too many other people were paying attention to him.

There was however one person that was paying very close attention to him. Zarek had watched in slight amusement to the Cheetah at the bar. By reading the Orca's lips he could tell that the cat didn't have close to enough money. This place was expensive even for the Council's standards. Though with it being that was the Council could make sure that this was basically their own personal get away.
His waiter returned to his table pushing a cart as the man at the bar received his glass of water. Pressing a few buttons a bowl, spoon, and glass where emitted from the side of the cart. Taking the items the cat placed them on the table and explained how if there was anything dangerous to Zarek's health that the bottom of the glass and bowl would turn black, and so would the handle of the spoon.
"You take things very seriously here don't you?" Zarek asked in amusement as the cat had another set of dishes appear from the cart.
"Yes we do sir. It would not be good for a Council member... or anyone else to be killed while dinning here. It is bad for business." Opening the pot that sat on top of the cart the waiter ladled out a small serving of the clam chowder into his bowl and then took a spoon full and ate it. Then he opened and unopened bottle of water and poored a little into his cup and drank it.
"As you can see sir, your food is perfectly fine." Pooring the soup into Zarek's bowl and then the water.
"If you need anything, just press this little white button," the cat said as he showed the Angel the button on the side of the tabel, "and I will be right with you. Before I leave is there anything else I can do for you?"
"Yes there is. You see the Cheetah over at the bar?"
"I do sir."
"Well, tell the Orca that he can drink what ever he wants because the cat's bill will be on me. And if the man does ask who is buying his drinks then you can tell him it is me."
"I will sir." Bowing his head beofre he left the cat pushed the cart back towards the kitchen his lips moving quickly.
And they're all connected y some communication device. Lovely. Zarek thought as he saw the Orca nod in his waiter's direction.

"Sir"?
Ivan raised his head again, he had hoped that he would not be called attention to again until his hour was up (it took at least an hour to make a lasting impression) but when the Orca spoke his head naturally lifted (afterall the dude was ten times his size).
This is it, their going to kick me out and Mr. Collins...
"Someone has paid your tab tenfold for tonight. What would you like to drink sir"? Ivan searched the bartender's face for a mocking glint, but found nothing, they diddn't mess around at Dinah's.
Heck even the staff matched the draperies.
Relief flowered in his chest, but it was slowly followed by paranoid panic, he was not the sort of person who just appreciated these circumstances when they came. He had to know how and why, besides, this could potentially be dangerous, he was Mr. Collin's assistant after all, he was vulnerable to kidnappings and they could torture him to out company secrets (not that he knew any yet.'
He ordered a glass of Morah root wine (which was a deep purple color), and while the Orca turned his back his eyes scanned wildly over the restaurant, searching for signs...
There. He's not even trying to hide it.
A handsome tiger, sat by himself, and there was a look on his face that reminded Ivan of the Cheshire Cat, except the teeth weren't bared.
The young cheetah's ears perked, his hand instictivly smoothed his hair, a gesture of determination and his tail twitching in curiosity and suspicion, he got up from his seat and crossed over to the table where the formidable tiger was sitting.
Ivan was getting used to being outsized and out classed, so he gazed upon his new "friend" analytically.
"Did you pay for that"? he asked, his wide blue eyes displaying his youth but also his vicious intelligence, one hand, once again pushed a swath of soft blonde hair out of his face.
Ivan's last experience with Angels had been years ago, with freelance agents, thus he took no notice of the strangely bright apparel the formidable looking Tiger was wearing.

Watching the cheetah move towards him Zarek could not help but notice the deadly grace that the man carried himself with. Even though the cat was smaller and younger he had a look to him that said he wasn't afraid of being here. Of course that look was different from the one he had had on not to long ago.
"I did. It wasn't that big of a deal however. I simply have the money to do that sort of thing with. Would you like to sit down? I was just about to eat when you walked over." Pushing out the chair across from him with his foot he smiled.
"A good looking guy like you shouldn't eat alone, and I would like someone to talk to. Don't worry I don't bite... hard." He was flirting! When this proceed in his own head Zarek wanted to smack himself. He shouldn't be flirting. He had Rook, but this guy...
No, I have Rook and that is all I need.

ooc: Well we get to see how well Zarek can resist Temptation, how well poor Ivan can keep his wits about him, and how well two cats can lie!
Fun ;3
---
Shock
he's...flirting with me.
Ivan stopped himself from trembling and looking as if he were scared and floored as he really was (for he was) when this offer was made. There was something off about this man, but there was also the fact that he was handsome, muscular and rich, and well, a tiger, and when a big tiger asked you to do something...
He remembered his father's eyes, an adult cheetah and so unlike him, deep and golden, like this man's as he had pinned Ivan to the spot while asking him his grades. Those were eyes you wanted to please, eyes you would go through ridiculous lengths to make happy, even if the only affection you got from them was a warped, circumstantial thing.
Mr. Collins was depending on him, but surely he wouldn't mind Ivan making such a ...well....endowed ally so quickly?
Despite the initial attraction (and the embarrassment that went along with it) warning signals flashed in his head. Something...
and I've never been such a fool not to listen.
On the other hand, he had a lot of pretty blonde hair to smooth out of his face, and there was no harm in cracking a smile, eh?
I could be reading too much into this. What if he's just being nice? But then ....
There was something wrong, he'd find out, he was used to quiet deception. Besides, it was the polite thing to do.
He smiled, seemingly genuinely, twitching his long whiskers and turning his soft blue eyes on the man.
"Why not, you've already paid for me anyway, it's the least I could do".
He pulled out his chair, and his tail twitched as the thin cheetah took a seat putting his hands neatly into his lap.

"You know it is rude to put your hands on your lap. Never know what a person might be doing when they have their hands unseen. Many assassinations have taken place that way you know." Taking a sip of his soup he smiled. If the place wasn’t so damn expensive he’d come here all the time.
"You really should try this. The soup is wonderful. That is if you like clam chowder." Zarek was trying to get the kid to relax. After that the tiger knew with careful prodding he'd be able to get the cheetah to tell him all about himself. It wasn't going to be easy though. Just by the look of the kid he knew what was going on around him.
"You don't even have to have to soup you can order something else. My treat." Pressing the button on his table the tiger called his waiter back. "Let's get some meat on those bones."

"Who would you worry about being ...assassinated"? Ivan asked, his voice was light...curious and he looked amused by the thought he picked up his long, (actually rather feminine, though clever) hands and waved them in the air a bit before putting them back to where they had been, smirking.
Who are you, bastard? Tell me your name
He considered, his whiskers twitching, his manner was frivolous.
His eyes were cold.
"I'm more of a meat guy myself actually, if you don't mind, not the best steak of course, I couldn't even fit a piece of that down my throat".

The cat came troting out and stood before the tabel. "You called sir?"
"Yes, I would like the second best steak you have for my friend here." He indicated his new tabel mate with a wave of his paw. "You can forget about all the formallities you gave me for the rest of the meal. I trust that nothing had been tainted."
"Very well sir. How would you like your steak."
"Medium rare, is that fine with you..." the tiger snapped his finger's quickly. "I'm so sorry your name seems to have slipped my mind. What was it again?" This was the Angel's way of learning something about this man without giving up his own information.

"Ivan, and that's fine" said the cheetah, without so much as a twitch of his whisker. He had no reason to hide his name, but it seem the tiger did. Whatever reason, the cheetah's curiosity (and hunger) was now peaked. His foot tapped to the smothered beat of the music behind their ears, it was elegant and simple, to Ivan it sounded like a bird's heart, quick, fluttering and nervous.
He took a sip of his expensive drink, wondering why it WAS so expensive. It diddn't taste like anything special, nice to be sure, but not worth the glass it had been poured in.
Anyway, he was willing to wait, the only things he had to hide were too far deep from the tiger's prying eyes, everything else was acceptable and freely given, the more the tiger tried to find out about him, the more chance he had of revealing information about himself.
Quieting his logical jargon of inner ramblings, Ivan smiled "Are you some kind of secret agent? You seem very bond esque, buying strangers their drinks and asking their name, before yours."
